ATH-M50 Review
I was working with a professional mixer in a recording studio here in Atlanta. Recently we had a late night recording session that went on till early in the morning. Sometime during the recording, some very big, fat dummy decided to sit down in my chair. They did this without moving my headphones out of the way. Needless to say they crushed my headphones. This forced me to go buy a new pair of headphones.
When I was comparing headphones I discovered that Audio Technica produced some of the best sounding headphones around. For this reason I purchased a pair of the Audio Technica ATH-M50 Headphones. I have been using these headphones in the studio for about 3 months now.
This is my ATH-M50 review:
The most impo
rtant feature in any headphones that is worn for a long amount of time is that they are comfortable. I can tell you straight up that these headphones are comfortable beyond belief. The headpiece has lots of cushioning to protect the top of your head. They have so much cushioning that you can forget that you have them on even after wearing them for 4 or 5 straight hours. That is because they weigh only 1 pound and 5 ounces.
The ear pieces also have lots of padding and soft cushioning. The ear pieces are designed to fit over your ear. They will not sit on top of your ear nor will your ear come in contact with the ear piece. The thick padding produces a cup that seals in the noise around your ear. This means that you will not experience any leakage from the sound.
The sound that you do hear is absolutely crystal clear.
In the studio, I demand that my audio equipment produce sound the way the musician created it. When listening with these Audio Technica ATM-M50 headphones you will hear sound the way it was created. The lows provide a thump and vibration inside your ear that makes you sound like you are in the room with the musician. On the other end of the spectrum the lows are very clear and crisp.
I was very impressed with the Audio Technica ATH-M50 headphones. These headphones produce a high quality sound at a very reasonable price. These headphones are very comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time.
